Ifta

Darul Ifta (Mufti program) is a two year advanced program of Fiqh (Islamic Law) open to those students who have already completed the Fazilat course in which rules of writing the Fatwa is taught & methods of writing in light of Islamic law.

Students in this program research and analyze, under the auspices of a certified Mufti, the traditions of Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him), rulings of the companions, the Mujtahid Imams, and the accepted and rejected rulings of the Fuqaha. Studies include books of Fiqh, Usul-ul-Fiqh, Fatawa, Tafseer, and other sciences. Students practice researching and compiling answers with reference to the source books under the guidance of the Mufti who reviews all textual responses.

Along with studying a few books with specialised teachers of Islamic jurisprudence, the main focus in this year is to give the students practice and experience of answering the day-to-day issues within the community.

The students are given on average one question a day by the teachers; the questions require a well-researched answer. Further, the daily questions that are asked by the community are given to these students to answer and research. Thereafter, the teachers verify, sometimes modify and finally accept the answers. This helps the students learn first-hand how to give answers regarding different issues. The questions given include the following topics:

  • Aqeedah (belief)
  • Sects
  • Tasawwuf (purification of the heart)
  • Taharah (purity)
  • Salaah (prayer)
  • Zakaah (charity)

  • Nikah (marriage)
  • Talaq (divorce)
  • Business and trade
  • Janaiz (Death and burial)
